Course Overview:
This fast paced, but in depth, instructor-led course is intended to cover the material of courses 6001, 9300, and 9600 (7 days of instruction into 5 days). It is expected that all students have entry-level knowledge of the OmniSwitch (as demonstrated by a passing score on the ACSP examination) and a working knowledge of networking standards and technologies. This course covers the concepts needed to configure, monitor and tune network performance and scalability through switching, routing, security, VLANs, and other services provided by the OmniSwitch Release 5 family of products.

The Advanced IP portion of this course provides students with an understanding of the operation and configuration of the routing functionality as implemented on Alcatel's OmniSwitch. The following IP routing protocols covered are: RIP, RIP II, OSPF, VRRP, and BGP. In addition to standard routing services, special filtering tools are available to control route distribution. Multicast routing using IGMP and DVMRP is covered.

The student will also learn to use OmniVista to perform all of the necessary tasks in supporting an Enterprise network. This portion of the course covers: Product and Operation Overview, Application of Alcatel NMS Solution Set, Operation of NMS, OmniVista Server, Extended
Network Services, Installation and Login, AutoDiscovery, Topology and Notifications, Statistics and Health Audit and Security, Application Groups, Introduction to Policy Based Management, PolicyView, QoS (OneTouch), PolicyView QoS – Voice, PolicyView QoS – Data, PolicyView QoS – Expert, and LAB EXERCISES.

Upon completion of this course the student will be e-mailed an e-ticket for one Alcatel Certified Switch Specialist Release 5 - Layer 2/Layer 3 on-line examination (ACSS 5 L2/L3 - part number 801755-00).

Course Prerequisites:
Students must be familiar with the overall operation of the OmniSwitch. Students will automatically receive the 2500 CBT when they register for this course. It is required that the student receives a PASSING score on the Alcatel Certified Switch Professional Certification, aka ACSP, (on-line) examination.
